AliMed® Drop Seat

AliMed® Drop Seat fits almost any chair! Sturdy plastic drop seat attaches with strong webbing that independently adjusts in the front and the rear. Lowers seat up to 3″. Use as a level seat or incline it for a wedge effect. Add a specially configured 2″ thick AliMed® Polyfoam or T-Foam™ Combo Cushion (1″ high-density foam topped with 1″ Medium T-Foam) that clears the crossbars. Sewn. Vinyl construction. Drop seat fits both 16″ and 18″W x 16″D wheelchairs.

Drop seats create a flat, low-height wheelchair seating surface without having to make adjustments to the wheelchair frame. By lowering the sitting surface, you can use a higher-profile pressure-relieving cushion without sitting the patient too high in the chair, reducing fall risk. Drop seats allow user’s feet to reach the floor or foot supports for safer transfers, independent wheelchair mobility, and improved posture. Most drop seats can also be set at an incline (by adjusting rear straps lower than front straps), creating a wedge effect on a traditional flat cushion. Reclined position helps limit forward sliding, reducing falls and skin breakdown.
