Gel Anti-Shear Support Surfaces for Skytron 3500, 3600, 5001/6001/6600/6500/6500HD Akton® polymer gel helps to avoid excessive pressure buildup, which can lead to skin damage, while evenly distributing weight and providing constant support beneath patients without bottoming out. Gel reduces shear by moving with the skin, not against it. Heat and humidity are controlled by the material’s ability to evenly radiate heat throughout the product. This reduces the risk of potentially dangerous “hot spot” development, while providing a uniform temperature environ­ment for the patient.
Exposed layer of Akton® polymer gel (3/8″ thick) is heat-sealed over a high-density Polyfoam pad (2″ thick), providing constant support beneath patients without bottoming out. Anti-shear, elastic cover with fluid-proof, welded seams encases foam layer.
